  • TriMet has filed a labor complaint against Amalgamated Transit Union 757 on Thursday claiming the union representing most of its employees is not following state law government public contract negotiation.TriMet filed the Unfair Labor Practice complaint with the state Employment Relations Board the day after ERB ruled that ATU 757 was illegally delaying contact talks.TriMet has declared an impasse in the current negotations and statee law requires both sides to submit Final Offers to ERB for mediation. in its complant, TriMet claims the union’s Final Offer does not comply with the requirements of the law.”Collective bargaining statutes clearly state how the parties should move through the negotiation process and maximize the opportunities for settlement,” TriMet Executive Director of Labor Relations and Human Resources Randy Stedman said in a prepared statement. “Over TriMet’s consistent objection, the ATU has acted in bad faith by including in its Final Offer proposals that are either illegal or permissive subjects of bargaining.”If ERB’s June 18 ruling is any indication, it could take months or even years to rule on the new complaint. The Wednesday ruling dealt with things that happened in 2012.
