NEWARK, N.J. (AP) ā€” New Jersey Transit has resumed bus service in Essex County and in Jersey City. It remains suspended in Morris County.

Officials requested earlier suspensions to assist plow crews in clearing the roads.

NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says ridership on the rails and roads Thursday was significantly lower than an average weekday.

As of Thursday evening all rail lines are operating but with 15 minute system-wide delays. Durso says midtown direct rail service, which had been diverted earlier due to an Amtrak switching problem, has resumed on a limited hourly schedule.

Durso says Friday commuters should allow extra time and check NJ Transit’s website for updates.

Buses and trains are cross-honoring tickets Thursday and Friday.

PATH trains have resumed service on all lines after some earlier system disruptions.
