DALLAS CBSDFW.COM – Big changes could be coming to Southwest Airlines. Restrictions on where the Dallas based carrier can fly from Texas will be lifted later this year. And on Monday morning, we could learn where those flights will be headed. Company CEO Gary Kelly said that the announcement will be historic for Southwest Airlines.Exact details about that announcement are not known, but it is said to be related to international flights.Under the Wright Amendment, Southwest Airlines can only fly to four states — New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Any of their passengers must then hop from those locations to their final destinations. But that is all about to change in October, when the Wright Amendment is officially lifted.Kelly has suggested that Southwest Airlines could use the same itinerary as AirTran Airways, which Southwest Airlines acquired back in 2011. AirTran Airways currently flies to Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Aruba.
