American Airlines employees vote for stripes design on planes\’ tails

FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan 3, 2014 (Menafn – UPI via COMTEX) –After an employees\’ vote, American Airlines Group will retain its new paint scheme, which includes a stylized U.S. flag on planes\’ tails, it announced Friday.

Nearly 52 percent of the 60,418 employees who voted chose the branding scheme put in place after the merger between American and US Airways. The rest preferred the old \”AA\” logo on the tails, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

The announcement came by Twitter, the post reading: \”Our people voted. We will retain out flag tail fin. No we continue painting our fleet.\”

The company\’s 1,100 airplanes will feature a streamlined logo on the fuselage and the flag design on the tail, in what some industry observers called a refreshing face lift for an aging airline and others criticized as garish, the newspaper said.
