Transit- TWU Protests MTA Plans To Cut Train, Bus Staffs – The Chief

A few dozen Transport Workers Union Local 100 officers and members gathered at Metropolitan Transportation Authority headquarters at 2 Broadway Sept. 13 to protest the agency’s contract demands for part-time Bus Operators and the removal of Conductors from some subway trains.

They claimed that allowing part-time Bus Operators would pose a hazard because drivers would be fatigued from working other jobs. And they argued that customers deserve the added safety of having a second person on full-length trains, to make sure they aren’t caught in doors or otherwise threatened.
